Vegetarian and Homegrown Fare! Happy People!
As it did 100 years ago, this landmark home sits amidst farmland and forest, nestled between branches of the South River and Beatty Creek, with boat access to Lake Nipissing. Every meal is a special occasion here at Piebird, served either in the tea room or on the wraparound veranda. We offer an all vegetarian experience created with homegrown, local and organic produce and served with love. Sherry also offers nutritional counseling and whole-food based cooking classes. All rooms are furnished with antiques and heirlooms from a bygone era. Original wood floors whisper welcome to the slow pace of country life and their patina reminds us of the folks who have walked them before us. Spend your vacation days canoeing on the river, hiking through the maple forest or strolling through our gardens. Tour the local artisans, antique shops or visit the Nipissing Museum. The riverside country roads are great for biking. In the winter months ski on the backcountry cross-country ski trails or skate on the creek. Relax in the evening by the fireplace in the parlour, browsing our local history library and rediscovering the pace of the past. Built sometime between 1900 and 1904 by a wealthy Toronto furrier as a stately summer residence, the house has enjoyed a colourful history while still managing to retain her charm and good looks. A spontaneous bet saw this quiet country cottage change hands in a card game in 1918. Your hosts find themselves fairly-to-moderately entertaining but guests do have their own private entrance. ...In fact guests have complete privacy as we have our own suite out back, separate from the B&B. |
