Rob Szabo will be having a CD release show at Piebird on Friday April 15th. We've been fortunate to host Rob at Piebird several times and each time we marvel at his easy nature with the audience and his touching and humourous song writing skills.

Jenn Grant! @ The FARM!
Piebird is so pleased to present Halifax's JENN GRANT at The FARM Monday Feb. 21 Doors 7:30, show 8 PM
The Crooked Brothers played last year and we fell in love with them. From Manitoba they come with songs and stomping and a sweet appreciation of what we do here at Piebird. They are our kind of people, they balance out their touring musician lives with forest-living, bush-work and log-cabin building.
This is the last show of our season, hope to see you all there!
Jack Harlan has spent his life as a troubadour criss-crossing North America. Holding court with just his voice and guitar, Harlan has played festivals, bar rooms, beach resorts, steam engine train tours, singing for missionaries in Mexico, cafes, along side elephants in the circus, and has shared the stage with the pop singer Dido, Fred Eaglesmith and Ron Sexsmith.“He sounds like he’s actually lived a life, first-hand, and it is the patina of experience that raises him above the ordinary” (Americana UK).
A homegrown vegetarian dinner is available before the show. There are limited seats so please call to reserve. Dinner and show seats are $35. Dinner seating at 6:30pm
We are so lucky that Rob fits Piebird into his touring schedule as he is as delightful to hang around with as his music is to listen to. One of my favourite quotes from his press page is, "The soul of a poet ... a voice of tremendous power and whimsy … one beautiful talent waiting to explode.” And it's true!
We will be serving a homegrown vegetarian dinner before the show, right in the prime growing season -- abundance and freshness straight from the garden -- so please reserve your seat as seating is limited. Show and dinner is $35, the show without dinner is $15.
Dinner seating at 7, show at 8:30.

We were introduced to Brock Zeman at Shan Bedard's Barn bash last summer. We danced so much that Yan appeared to be the same height as me because his boots dug in the dirt floor and after just a couple songs he was dancing in a hole! For a taste of Brock's unique sound please see his website.

This spring during planting season after playing a gig here at Piebird, Eddie Orso took a break from touring with his band Revival Dear (revivaldear.com) to leave the city and head north and work the land here on the farm. He planted and hoed carrots by day and worked on the new Revival Dear album at night.
You can never know how the crop is going to turn out. It's been one of those summers where the clouds always look as though they've been filled with sand, they move really heavy and slow. The summer months have been wet and cool, but those carrots did amazingly well. Now that summer is all out of breath and harvest has come, the seasons have gone and changed and other changes have come too -- Eddie has put Revival Dear to bed and is recording a solo album instead.
His first stop as The Eddie Orso Band is to play the Piebird Harvest Boogie & Vegetarian Supper on Sunday September 27th at Piebird Bed & Breakfast in Nipissing Village, Ontario. Attendees are invited to come hear the new songs and taste the homegrown splendor. Join us for a vegetarian supper before the show or take home some organic produce from our market. Not often can you experience both what a musician has put into song and planted in the ground...
Dinner at 5:00 -- Show at 7:00
Concert & Vegetarian Supper is $35
Concert only $15 - Tickets available at the Hibou Boutique in North Bay or through us, 724-1144
It's an early show, great for families -- children are welcome at the concert without admission of course.
This Summer Revival Dear (revivaldear.com) played our Picnic Marathon and Garden Concert (you can see photos here).
When Eddie came and hoed carrots here in the Piebird gardens for a week, he made a video which you can check it out here. Check out myspace.com/eddieorso to listen to some of the new songs. His songs are like tools for living.
Why not check out some of their inspiring and beautiful songs on the interweb. more. We love the Gruff more than most other things here on earth, it's going to be such a fun show!

Jen's return to Piebird has been anticipated for some time now...I squealed with glee when she said she'd be here! She will be just returning from her eastern tour, promoting her new album.
For those of you who don't know Jen's music, any description from me won't do her justice, so I won't try.
Fish & Bird are Taylor Ashton and Adam Iredale-Gray, though not necessarily in that order. These tunesmiths hail from the west coast of Canada and compose melodious concoctions steeped in folk, brewed in the dense coniferous backwoods of their strange minds. Between them, they play banjo, fiddle, mandolin, upright bass, and even guitar.
A note from Sherry: For those of your who still talk with awe about the Fiddler who played with The Gruff a while back, now's your chance to see/hear him again: that Fiddler was Adam!
There was a time when music was a craft performed by artisans who rode the rails and played from the heart. A time when music was central to communities, bringing people together and inspiring change. If you have ever longed to go back to such a time, then Revival Dear will ride straight into your heart.
Revival Dear has found a way to pay homage to the past and herald in the future at the same time. Imagine a marriage between classic rock legends The Band and Fleetwood Mac, and you'll have a pretty good idea of their sound. Yet Revival Dear's music is fresh, totally alive, and very relevant in today's music scene.
A note from Sherry: You do not want to miss this concert! When Revival Dear played here in November 2008 it was one of most talent filled entertaining evenings I had ever witnessed! We are so truly blessed to have them returning to us! Revival Dear belong here and so do you!
Organic coffee, vegan and vegetarian snacks available at our self serve snack station! Call 724-1144 to reserve.

We are very lucky to be part of that mad dash here at Piebird.
We are so pleased to have Jen Plummer play here! The first time I heard her play was shortly after I moved here from Vancouver. When i heard her sing and saw her banging on that djembe, I thought, "this place is going to be okay after all!"

$25 for dinner, plus $10 for the show. $15 for the show without dinner. Please reserve by emailing sherry@piebird.a or calling 724-1144
this is what some of his bio says from his website
In the tradition of solo banjo men and women of days gone by like Dock Boggs, Bascom Lunsford and Roscoe Holcomb, Old Man Luedecke sings his songs accompanied only by his loving five string, foot stomps and the occasional yodel. His songs are melodic gems blending old time sensibilities with an unusual vision and poetic sense.
What a treat to have HoneyGrass here! Ever since hearing them last year we have been attempting to become part of their busy schedule. HoneyGrass is a fairly new band that has taken the bluegrass segment by storm with their harmonies and impressive musical talents. HoneyGrass has recently won an award for "Most Promising Band" of the year award at the 2007 Central Canadian Bluegrass Awards. We are proud to say that our neighbour, Ray Winterstein is the banjo player, with North Bays own Marie Gustafson on mandolin, Eleonor Bell on guitar and Karen Snell on stand-up bass.

These performers, from Tasmania to Winnipeg, have brought Yan and I to tears, both from utter joy of their energy and from the deep content that some of the songs share with us. For those of you who have yet to come on out, we look forward to sharing these unique evenings with you.
