Plants used to use brightly coloured fruits, birds, burrs or the wind to aid with their seed dispersal. Now they have us. Mmm, purple peas that we'll be selling through our heritage seed company, check back for more info. The first white pea flowers of July usually remind me of a giant snowflake snowfall, but not these peas, the flowers are pink!

This has been the perfect summer for growing cabbage! We're growing a few giant ones as an experimental deer deterrents as there's a doe who's taken to coming around and taking away a few bites. I expect once she catches a glimpse of the giant cabbage she'll run away and never come back.

Potatoes and turnips in the carrot field, come book for a vegetarian dinner and you'll surely be eating both!
