Our linens are wrinkled!
You can smell the sun on the sheets because we hang them to dry on the clothesline in the fresh country air. You can still feel and sense the sun on them long after it has set.
We now have three guest rooms:
The Waldemar Room (The Spring Room)
Sleep well in Waldemar’s own room, south-facing and cheerfully painted. The room is named after Waldemar Kahnert, who had the house built in 1902 and deserves much praise for its lasting beauty (he chose very well suited local craftspeople to build it!) The room is furnished with all the accoutrements of the early 1900's that we obtained from Waldemar’s great-nephew who has an antique shop up the road.

Chapman's Honeymoon Room (The Autumn Room)
In 1914, farmer and 'Ontario Potato King' Herb Chapman returned from his wedding to find that his mother and older sisters had moved into his newly built farmhouse. So he and his new bride Bertha went down the road and rented Piebird for the first year of their married life. This young couple grew up to be my (Yan) great grandparents. They later considered that whole year in Piebird to be their honeymoon. We didn't find out this story until after we bought the house.

The Little Room
We call this the little room because it has a single bed and I like to decorate it with teeny things when I find them. The room is bright and cheery with it's two windows, one overlooking the front garden and the other overlooking forest and catching teeny bits of the setting moon. Complete with a comfy wing back chair to lounge in and watch the starry night sky.

Enjoy a calm awakening in the country. Relax in the evening in an 1870’s oak-rimmed bathtub, or by the fire with a book. Let our antique house enable you to forget about tomorrow and live in a simpler era.
The private rate enables the guests to use to whole house for themselves. Guests have their own private entrance and use of the tearoom and the parlor with fireplace.
For larger groups and longer stays, all three guest rooms and a kitchen are available at a discounted cost. |
